Sweet Southern Magnolias & Classic Wedding Inspiration | New Orleans Wedding Photographer

Recently, the ladies from Something Borrowed Blooms and I teamed up for another refreshing styled shoot to ring in a few of their new pieces and the start of Spring. This time, to debut several of their FAAAAAABULOUS new floral collections. From picturesque aesthetics to the wonderful team we had working to pull the vision together, we had a blast from start to finish.

If you’re not familiar with Something Borrowed Blooms, they’re a floral rental company specializing in the rental of S-T-U-N-N-I-N-G premium silk flowers for weddings and events.  They are based right here in LA, but ship to anywhere in the United States! (Think “Rent the Runway” does for dress rentals, but with flowers.) While I do absolutely ALWAYS love a fresh bouquet, if you’re a bride with champagne taste, but looking for where you can save a bit, they are absolutely worth looking into. Owners and designers Laken and Lauren have an eye for creating unique and fresh pieces that flow with both ever-changing style and timeless elegance.

A Nautical Engagement Session | Annie + Reice, Part I: Fairhope Engagement Photography

One of my mama friends with littles has engrained an idea in them for as long as I’ve observed. I’ve watched her teach them through their little toddler choices, good and bad. Something that resonated with me was the way she spoke to them and allowed them to soak in the meaning of her words. As she’d observe her children pondering a particular choice, she’d remind them politely, “Make smart choices.” When one would do something mischievous, I’d watch her calmly sit them down and say, “Was this a good choice?…Can you tell me why that was or wasn’t the best choice?”

Choices. The older you get, the more you realize just how much life is molded by every single one of those little beasts.

Nine years. Living states apart. Traveling. Gaining identities as adults, both separate and together. Learning how to boil rice and buy couches. Creating memories and just enjoying this pretty little life. Three thousand, two hundred and eighty-five days. Literally. How many days, thus far, that these two have chosen one another. I’m no expert, but I’ll consider that pretty decent marriage prep…

When life gets messy, hard, sad, exciting, ugly–it always comes back to making the choice. I’m FAR from a marriage guru, but I can bet that if you’d ask any couple who’s been married for a lifetime, they’ll tell you the same thing: it all comes down to that one choice. Annie and Reice, you’ve already mastered this with exemplary grace over the past nine years. Here’s to 99 more.Annie + Reice Engagements Annie + Reice Engagements Annie + Reice Engagements

Dirt Roads and Mossy Southern Oaks | Jenna + Blaine: Mandeville Engagement Photographer

“The best love is the kind that awakens the soul; that makes us reach for more, that plants the fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds. That’s what I hope to give you forever.”

After spending the afternoon with Jenna and Blaine, peace is truly what resonated with me when I reflected on the two of them. In the short moments I spent with them, I could genuinely feel how at peace they were among one another’s company. From cracking jokes to soft, subtle smiles during the in-between moments, the two of them are so clearly content and ready for a life together. As we adventured on country dirt roads and among moss-filled oaks, their quiet laughs and soft kisses made my heart so full.

If you couldn’t tell by her fabulous hair, Jenna is a girl boss hustler herself, as she owns her own salon. I’m pretty confident its one of the many things Blaine loves about her.Jennifer Landry Jennifer Landry

After meandering on dirt and gravel roads for a while, we decided to switch it up a bit and snap some pretties under the mossy oak trees nearby. I’m always a sucker for the soft look of hanging moss and a porcelain-skinned girl.Jennifer LandryJennifer Landry Jennifer Landry

Jenna and Blaine, thank you for entrusting me with documenting this part of your lives together. I cannot wait for the wedding next year!

Can we just first discuss the perfection of Meghan’s dress from MaeMe? So much swooning going on over here for that tulle and lace two-piece.

This bright Spring Collection is called the Kinsley Collection, so perfectly named after this little blonde bebe…

Anyone who knows me knows that I am NOT generally a girl who fancies much bright color; however, this Kinsley Collection ended up being my favorite of all of the florals we photographed.Something Borrowed BloomsSomething Borrowed Blooms

Can we just talk about these braids for a minute? I’ll have you know I tried replicating this in my bathroom on my own hair and it didn’t look near as dreamy as Meghan’s. I’ll leave credit where it’s due–to our extremely talented hair stylist, Jennifer Landry. She works as a team with makeup guru Sarah Jarreau and I cannot sing their praises loud enough.

A Romantic Affair at Race + Religious | Kayla + Charlie: New Orleans Wedding Photographer

When photographing weddings, one thing that always makes me just the teensiest bit sad is how little time the bride and groom actually get to spend together on a day carved out to celebrate them. For Kayla and Charlie’s day, this was not the case at all. It filled my heart with so much joy to see just how much the two of them were truly grounded in one another throughout the day–from every detail, gift, and moment they were together, it was almost as if no one else was around.

They spent their entire day and night among the phenomenally picturesque nooks along the grounds of Race + Religious in New Orleans, surrounded by their closest friends and family. From the littlest of quiet moments to the unique gifts Charlie and Kayla had for one another, I truly believe the day was perfectly laid out for the two of them.

If you’re familiar with Race + Religious, you know that each room is packed with copious amounts of unique detail and character. It’s truly a one-of-a-kind venue.Jennifer Landry Jennifer LandryJennifer LandryJennifer Landry Jennifer LandryJennifer LandryJennifer Landry Jennifer Landry Jennifer Landry Jennifer Landry

Charlie and Kayla both exchanged the most heartfelt notes and thought-out gifts. Their attention to detail was truly remarkable to watch as it unfolded throughout the day. Kayla gifted Charlie with an overnight bag packed with all of his most favorite things. Charlie gifted Kayla and her daughters with the sweetest pieces from Tiffany’s. My favorite gift though, was the vintage tandem bike Charlie surprised Kayla with during the first look. Their first date involved an adventure on a tandem bike, so we can all go ahead and swoon now…Jennifer Landry Jennifer LandryJennifer Landry

Another fabulous element of Kayla and Charlie’s day was the amount of down time they had to truly soak everything in. This is certainly a bonus of having all parts of the day in one location.Jennifer Landry Jennifer LandryJennifer Landry Jennifer LandryJennifer Landry

The last gift of the day was an umbrella that Kayla gave Charlie during the first look. When opened, it has a map of the constellations printed on the inside. I’ll just put that on my wish list, now…Jennifer LandryJennifer LandryJennifer Landry Jennifer Landry Jennifer Landry

As time neared the ceremony and guests began to arrive, Kayla and Charlie were tucked away. This allowed me some time to capture even more of the particular details around the venue. From a cigar and craft beer lounge for the guys, to a taffy bar for the kids, Kayla and Charlie didn’t leave a detail untouched.Jennifer Landry Jennifer Landry Jennifer LandryJennifer Landry Jennifer Landry Jennifer Landry Jennifer Landry Jennifer Landry

Kayla and Charlie, it was truly a pleasure to witness and document the genuine qualities of the love you share. I wish you a lifetime filled with the most love and happiness.Jennifer Landry Jennifer Landry Jennifer Landry
